Course Description
Learn the who’s, how’s, and what’s of the 2027 MT Legislative Session and how it can relate to your work. The Montana legislative session moves quickly and includes both predictability and rapid change. This course will focus on understanding and following along with the 2027 legislative session. We’ll talk about the calendar and website, how and when to be a presence in hearings, and the significance of working the halls outside of hearings.
In the first two sessions, participants will explore:
- Structure of Montana’s Legislature
- How a Bill Becomes a Law in Montana
- Why Legmt.gov is your friend during session!
- Basics of giving a Testimony
- How Nonprofits can Prepare for Session
Plus: On November 16th, Montana Budget and Policy Center will present an overview of the Montana State Budget. Learn how it works, see what you should know for the upcoming year, and have your questions answered.
This course will be recorded and available to attendees for six months following the course.
