Montana Nonprofit Association (MNA) is looking for a public accounting firm to conduct our annual financial audit, and we’d love to hear from you.
Proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. on November 27, 2026. Please email them with the subject line “Audit Services Request for Proposal.” Late proposals won’t be considered.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking an independent CPA firm to audit MNA’s books for the year ending December 31, 2026, with the option to continue in subsequent years as negotiated. Our goal is a three-year engagement. The audit will follow the Single Audit Act. We’d also like the selected firm to prepare and file our IRS Form 990 (due May 15 each year), including any extension requests.
What to include in your proposal
Please submit an engagement letter that references this RFP. We ask that your pricing be broken out into three parts: the audit itself; financial statement, footnote, and supplemental schedule preparation; and Form 990 preparation.
About MNA
Based in Helena, MNA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to promote a strong nonprofit sector in Montana. We’re a membership organization with about 810 member nonprofits and 110 affiliate members across the state. Our work spans five program areas: public policy, group buying and cost-saving products, professional and organizational development, research and information, and nonprofit networks. Each year we also host one of the largest nonprofit conferences in the northwest.
Our team of nine works out of a single office, and a statewide board of directors meets quarterly. Our annual revenue is between $1.4 and $1.5 million, split roughly evenly between earned income (membership dues, discount product fees, and training and conference registrations) and contributed income, primarily from foundations. Our fiscal year ends December 31.
A note on records
The selected firm will keep workpapers for each audited year for at least three years after fieldwork is complete, and make them available to funder representatives approved by MNA.
