MNA to introduce its first member dues change since 2017

November 10, 2025 • By: MNA, Montana Nonprofit Association

MNA’s new membership dues schedule is set to go into effect on January 1, 2026. Our first dues update in nine years, this change will allow MNA to better serve nonprofits through our resource and program creation, public policy work, responsive educational offerings, timely sector research, and carefully crafted member benefits designed to save nonprofits time and money.

What is the value of MNA membership for nonprofits?

Nonprofit membership with MNA is so much more than a dollar-value proposition. That said, we know that every dollar counts, and we are continually growing and adapting programming, resources, and benefits to ensure that members receive the best possible value for their financial commitment.

Over the last nine years, we have grown our suite of member benefits, whole organization educational offerings, leadership programs, networking opportunities, and more, based on member feedback and needs. Some highlights include:

  • Free monthly member calls for specialized roles
  • Catalyst & Accelerator leadership and management programs
  • All Access Pass & Whole Org registration
  • Montana Foundation Directory
  • Virtual and on-demand trainings
  • Free board portal
  • MNA Connect community platform
  • Member discounts for HR, bookkeeping, design, CRMs, grant writing, IT, strategic planning and more services
  • State Fund Nonprofit Group discounts
  • Community Builder Summits & Rural Ambassador program
  • Executive Transition Toolkit
  • Partners for Good referral directory

In addition to these programs and benefits, members receive special discounts to our annual conference and signature trainings; discounted postings on Montana’s largest nonprofit specific job board; free or discounted access to our bi-annual Nonprofit Wage & Benefit Report; on-demand access to our growing resource library; free technical assistance from MNA staff; and member savings partnerships with GrantStation, First Nonprofit unemployment insurance alternative, D&O insurance providers, Coeus Global background checks, and more.

Beyond these tangible benefits and discounts, public policy and community-building are core components of MNA membership. We believe that nonprofits are stronger together, and there is incredible value in connecting leaders across the state for collaboration, support, and peer-learning. Members also have direct access to what is happening at the state and federal levels that will impact nonprofits through monthly public policy calls, policy alert emails, advocacy training, legislator roundtables, and technical assistance from our Policy Director – a new position in 2024 that has exponentially increased our policy and advocacy capacity to support the sector as a whole. Members have access to timely resources, updates, and support to navigate crises like federal funding changes and instability.

Our association is built by and for members, and we are continually evaluating member needs and sector trends to develop responsive and timely resources and programs. In 2026, we are expanding our Rural Ambassador program, launching a new Nonprofit Mentorship program, and adding direct fundraising capacity-building support for members, based on member feedback.

How much of a dues increase can nonprofit members expect?

Nonprofit members will see an average increase of 10% on their membership dues. For most of our members, this will be between $5-35 annually.

We recognize that our sector is in one of its most challenging periods to date, from financial uncertainty due to federal funding changes to increased scrutiny on the work of charitable nonprofits, and we are committed to ensuring that membership is affordable, accessible, and welcoming for all nonprofits. Please reach out to Tylyn if a discount will allow you to renew your membership – we do not want cost to be a barrier to accessing resources that support your mission.

How much of a dues increase can affiliate members expect?

For 80% of our affiliates, member dues will increase between $25-100 annually. The MNA board voted to approve this change based on feedback from affiliate members about the relatively low cost of our dues, the value of affiliate membership, and that a primary driver for joining MNA is to support our work and the nonprofit sector as a whole.

We have worked to increase the value of affiliate membership over the last few years by creating multiple new opportunities for engagement and connection between affiliates and nonprofits. We deeply value our affiliate partners and know that you are instrumental in helping us meet our mission of building a stronger, more connected, and well-resourced nonprofit sector in Montana. If you would like to learn more about ways to engage and make the most of your affiliate membership, please reach out to Tylyn.

Together, we are a force for good.

We believe that nonprofits are essential to the Montana we all know and love, and we know that nonprofit leaders are changemakers and community builders. We understand the value of connection and community, and we want to continue building a welcoming, responsive, and supportive network to help nonprofits meet their mission. While membership dues are vital to our ability to provide the most robust resources, advocacy, and support to our members, we understand that the nonprofit sector is facing unprecedented challenges and we never want cost to be a barrier to accessing those resources and support. If you need a discount to renew your membership, please reach out to Tylyn.

Today, MNA is made up of more than 730 charitable nonprofits from every corner of the state and nearly 125 dedicated businesses, consultants, and partners working to support the sector – together, we are a force for good. Thank you for being a part of MNA.
