The Montana Nonprofit Association Board of Directors is pleased to offer the following candidates for board service. Board members are elected by association members at the annual member meeting.

Soft Landing, MissoulaMary is the Executive Director and co-founder of Soft Landing Missoula. Since 2015, she has dedicated herself to creating a welcoming home for refugees and immigrants in Missoula. Inspired by her own experiences as a mother, Mary finds joy in connecting with families from around the world. When she’s not leading her team, you can find her outdoors with friends and family.
Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Center for Indian Country Development | HelenaCasey is a vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and director of the Center for Indian Country Development (CICD), a research and policy institute that works to advance the economic self-determination and prosperity of Native nations and Indigenous communities.
Prior to joining the Minneapolis Fed in 2018, Casey served in economic development and higher education roles for the State of Montana. Additionally, he held executive leadership positions in national Native American nonprofits, including the American Indian College Fund and the Notah Begay III Foundation.
Casey received degrees from Dartmouth College and Harvard University and an MBA from the University of Colorado-Denver.
Casey is the 2021 recipient of the Janet L. Yellen Award for Excellence in Community Development and a 2022 recipient of the Honorary Leadership Award from the Native American Finance Officers Association.
A Montana native, Casey was raised on the Flathead Indian Reservation and is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
In addition to the above candidates, we want to give a warm welcome to Jennifer Owen, who was appointed to the board in May to fill a vacancy.
Jennifer, a fifth-generation resident of Billings, is an attorney and community leader with more than 20 years of experience in public policy development, nonprofit management, legislative process and procedures, complex issue management, public speaking, business development, and organizational operations. She has built a career spanning workforce development, mediation, guardian ad litem work in the child welfare system, and policy work across education, energy, agriculture, tribal affairs, and child welfare. She is the co-founder of The Art of Play, an indoor play facility for young children, has served on the Billings City Council, and is an active member of multiple community boards and task forces. Jennifer is currently a consultant and the Policy Director for the Montana Department of Labor and Industry.
