2022 Candidates for the Board

The MNA Governance Committee is pleased to announce the candidates for board service for 2023-2026. These candidates will be elected at our annual membership meeting, which will take place on September 27, 2022, at 12:00 pm MST on Zoom. Members may RSVP for the meeting here.

If elected, these candidates will serve on the MNA board for a three year term, with the option of renewing for one additional term.

In addition, we are grateful to Todd Wilson of Helena Indian Alliance and Susanne Severin, CPA, both of whom have agreed to serve MNA for another term.

Burke Kufeld

CFO, Rimrock Foundation

Burke Kufeld has over 25 years of experience working in healthcare finance.  Burke graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Finance from the University of Montana and later earned a Master’s of Business Administration with a Finance emphasis degree from Washington State University. He started working for Lutheran Health Systems (now Banner Health) at their System Office in Fargo, ND before taking leadership positions at facilities in Brush, Colorado and Loveland, Colorado.  Prior to coming to Rimrock, Burke worked for the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health (now Intermountain) at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings and Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City.  Burke has extensive experience working in healthcare finance including strategic planning, budgeting, staffing productivity, and capital and operational analysis in both rural and non-rural settings.

Jaime Shanks

Foundation & Marketing Director, Glendive Community Health

Jaime Shanks is the Foundation & Marketing Director for Glendive Medical Center in Glendive, Montana. Jaime moved to Glendive from the Black Hills of South Dakota in 2015 and fell in love with rural Eastern Montana. She serves on several committees focused on improving communication, education, tourism, as well as health and wellness. She and her husband, Brandon have six children, three grandchildren and one on the way. She is active in her church and enjoys her hobby farm, art, baking, and outdoor activities in her free time.  

Ron Slinger

President, Miles Community College

In January 2020, Ron Slinger became the 9th President of Miles Community College which is located in Miles City, Montana.  Prior to taking this position, he served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Strategic Partnerships, and Workforce Solutions at Red Rocks Community College in Colorado.  During his career, he has raised over $36 million dollars in capital needs, scholarships, academic program support, and student support services.  Ron has a long track record of building strategic partnerships that benefit the community, employers, and the faculty, staff, and students of the college he is working for.  He recently completed the prestigious Aspen Institute’s New President’s Fellowship.  He also serves on the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Small and Rural Colleges Commission.  Ron is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Miles City Area Economic Development Council.  He is also a Board Member of both the Montana Chamber of Commerce and the Holy Rosary Healthcare Foundation. 

Ron has a long track record of public service having been elected to four public offices: County Commissioner, Mayor, City Council, and School Board.  He holds a Doctorate in Community College Leadership from Ferris State University (Michigan).  He holds a Masters Degree in Higher Education Student Affairs from Bowling Green State University (Ohio) and a Bachelors Degree in Communications from The Defiance College (Ohio).  At Defiance College, he was a four-year starter and three-time captain on the football team as well as a four-time national qualifier on their speech team.
