Nonprofit Day at the Capitol

Join MNA and other Nonprofit partners for a day of advocacy at the Montana State Capitol. Lunch will be served, and the day will include workshops on advocating for your cause.

8:00 AM – 9:30 AM | Organizations arrive and set up material on regional tables in Capitol Rotunda

9:30 AM – 10:30 AM | Nonprofits by the Numbers | Adam Jespersen | DPHHS Sanders Auditorium

• Economic impact of nonprofits across Montana  
• Top trends facing nonprofit services, fundraising, and employment  
• MNA’s response to pressing issues facing nonprofits, employers, stakeholders, and community members 

10:30 – 11:30 AM | Panel: Advancing our Missions Through Advocacy | DPHHS Sanders Auditorium

• Tyler Amundson, Big Sky Senior Services (Billings)
• Makenna Sellers, Montana Renewable Energy Association (Helena)
• Jeff Welborn, former Montana legislator and current Public Service Commissioner (Dillon)
• Jenny Eck, former Montana legislator and nonprofit leader (Helena)

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM | Lunch in Capitol Rotunda

• Nonprofits encouraged to invite their legislators to share lunch together

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Education Sessions in DPHHS Sanders Auditorium OR Opportunity to watch sessions

• 1:00 – 1:50 PM | Spotlight on continuing Montana’s Medicaid program and how to get involved
• 2:00 – 3:00 PM | State Budget 101 with Montana Budget and Policy Center

 

Travel Scholarships Now Available!

Due to a generous gift, MNA is able to offer travel scholarships for nonprofits interested in participating in Nonprofit Day at the Capitol on. Whether you would like to cover the trip for your staff, offer a stipend for clients or community members to attend, or arrange transportation for your region, we have funding available.

We will review applications on a rolling basis, with a January 22^nd deadline. Funds will be awarded after January 30th. Attendance is required for funds to be awarded.  Funding is limited and will be unavailable once it is all awarded, so please apply as soon as possible.

Fund Use:

1. Travel
2. Hotel MNA has a room block available at the DoubleTree Downtown Helena. Organizations that are awarded scholarships will have access to one free room per organization for the night of January 29^th.
3. Other costs Would you like to request additional funding to cover stipends for clients or community members to attend? Are you interested in organizing a bus for community members from your region to attend? You have the opportunity to request additional funding as and if needed.
