12:00 – 1:30 PM | Hour long lunch-and-learn Panel followed by an optional, 30 minute interactive workshop
You’re drowning in urgent demands, constantly firefighting, and can’t imagine slowing down without everything falling apart. Sound familiar? Join this virtual panel where you’ll hear stories from Montana nonprofit leaders about how they moved from reactive and scattered to proactive, strategic leadership. Drawing from MNA’s Catalyst program journey mapping exercise, panelists will share honest insights about their leadership journeys—including challenges you will recognize and the breakthroughs that transformed their approach. Discover how strategic pauses can actually strengthen rather than slow your impact and begin identifying opportunities to build personal and organizational “bridges.” Leave with practical insights and clarity on your own path from reactive to proactive leadership.
Facilitated by Rachel Huff-Doria with panelists Karen Drill, Brittany Palmer, and Nathan Stein.

Karen L. Drill. Karen is an educational psychologist who has worked with nonprofits on organizational climate and culture, learning, and evaluation for over 20 years. With clinical training in insight-oriented therapy, she brings a unique human-centered approach to learning and evaluation in the nonprofit sector. Her work is grounded in the understanding that meaningful change arises from insight—gained through reflection, dialogue, and a deep awareness of human behavior and systems. She supports nonprofits in developing learning strategies and evaluation practices that do more than measure outcomes—they foster growth, surface complexity, and build the capacity to adapt. Karen is originally from Billings and lives in Red Lodge. She enjoys hiking, skiing, and being outdoors as much as possible.

Nathan Stein. Originally from the Midwest, Nathan has spent his career working in pursuit of a Montana where everyone is able to thrive and live out their dreams. As the Director of Headwaters Community Housing Trust, he brings a background in public policy communications and coalition-building, and nonprofit development Nathan is dedicated to helping build a Bozeman where everyone is able to lay down roots and thrive.
